Nathan Andrien: A musical journey
Born in 2000, Nathan Andrien is a young guitarist from Belgium. He started learning music at the age of 4 and has never stopped since then. Eager to learn, he was always curious and interested in discovering about music and the guitar itself.
He has been awarded with international prizes, such as the 1st Prize at the Szeged International Guitar Competition 2024 (Szeged, Hungary), and was finalist of the 'Imagine Belgium' Competition 2021. These experiences allowed him to be in contact with concert organizers who shared his enthusiasm and his vision about music, and he has since then been able to play in solo and ensemble in Belgium, but also in Ecuador, Hungary, France and The Netherlands.

Musical education
Nathan joined in 2018 the Royal Conservatory of Liège, Belgium, in the class of Hughes Kolp and Adrien Brogna. There, he obtained a Master’s degree in Pedagogy of the guitar and a Master's degree in classical guitar, 'soloist' specialization, with the Highest Honors. He also studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary with Andras Csaki, and he's currently pursuing a Master of Music under Carlo Marchione’s guidance at the Conservatorium Maastricht.
Over the years, he had the opportunity to follow summer courses in Hungary and Poland with Gabriel Bianco, teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and Lukasz Kuropaczewski, teacher at University Graz.
He also had lessons with major figures of the classical guitar such as Manuel Barrueco, Judicaël Perroy, Pablo Marquez, Marcyn Dylla, Aniello Desiderio,...

More about the repertoire
Nathan is involved in many different professional activities. He regularly performs with a guitar duo (Duo 'Les Sauvages') and a guitar-mandolin duo (Duo Mythos), with whom he plays both original pieces and transcriptions of the greater classical repertoire. He also works regularly with living composers.
Other projects include concerts and CD recordings with a plucked string ensemble led by renowned French mandolinist Vincent Beer-Demander, and collaborations with various artists (duos with singer, saxophone, etc.).

More about the main artistic projects
Artist identity
Through the guitar, his main goal is to share with his audience lesser-known works that he particularly enjoys, as well as major pieces from the classical repertoire. One of the key aspects of his personality as a musician is his desire to introduce the classical guitar to a wider audience. Indeed, the guitar repertoire contains high-quality, often little-known music, which he is keen to share. Furthermore, he works on transcriptions for solo and chamber music formations, offering a different aspect of the famous repertoire thanks to the light and delicate touch of his instrument. For example, he works on pieces by Chopin, Rameau, Franck, and others, and already performs some of his transcriptions in concert as part of his chamber music and solo projects.
He recently acquired an 8-string guitar with the aim of expanding the possibilities of the classical guitar, not only for transcriptions of keyboard works, but also to give greater variety and depth to the original guitar repertoire. This ambitious project will allow him to play Romantic music in a more convincing style, but also to draw closer to the music of J.S. Bach and the great Baroque composers, a period when the modern classical guitar did not yet exist.
To best share his artistic activities and passion for music, Nathan has also created a newsletter. Every month, you can receive an email detailing upcoming concerts or artistic activities in which he participates, with all the necessary information regarding bookings, the venue, time, and the musical project behind the performance.
