Longtime friends Nathan Andrien and Maxime Mazuyet have always been passionate about classical guitar. Their duo, Les Sauvages (The Wild Ones), naturally formed after their studies, driven by a shared desire to promote the guitar and its repertoire.

Interested in all styles of music, they are motivated by both contemporary composition and the study of early music. Using an 8-string guitar, they readily create original arrangements of popular pieces, aiming to (re)introduce classical music to a wider audience (Chopin, Debussy, Couperin, etc.). Their name, Les Sauvages, is inspired by the eponymous piece by Jean-Philippe Rameau, and fits perfectly within this framework of transcription, as they themselves created the arrangement.

Highlighted by the expanded possibilities of the 8-string guitar, their concert program focuses primarily on arrangements of keyboard music, aiming to showcase iconic pieces from the harpsichord and piano repertoire in a new light and bring a personal touch to these great classics.

Committed to contemporary creation, they also work actively with current composers, notably in the ‘Musiques Sauvages’ project, a collaboration with five composers in a concert program for two guitars and electronics.
